We passed by a temple before heading to Prambanan, it looks
ancient to me and I got excited that we’re stopping to take a look. They call
it Mendut Temple, one of the three temples that are built and located in one
single line (the other temples are Borobudur and Pawon), the reason of which is still unknown.
There a number of vendors outside the fenced area,
apparently you need to pay the entrance fee before you can roam the temple
vicinity but I opted not to go inside and instead content myself taking photos
of the temple from the outside.
My eyes were focused at a large tree that I thought, at
first, as a Balete tree but after consulting our driver, I was told it’s a
Banyan tree and is regarded as a “wish-fulfilling” tree in Hindu mythology. I
give in with the idea and wished for something I wanted for the longest time
and hoping against hope that it will somehow come true.

Nice photo Jerome kahit nasa labas ka kumuha. Scary naman ung balete tree hehe. Anyway, for this post, now ko nalaman ang english word ng balete tree hehehehe.
indeed it is banyan tree (or balete sa atin). It's funny that the tree we fear is a source of hope for them. Cool!
@doc wends thanks! di ko rin sure kung yun nga ang direct translation but they look the same
@ding thanks sir! yup complete opposite nga hehe
heard about the banyan tree but only knew about it being a wish fulfilling tree from your post.

hopefully the power of the Banyan tree is true hehe
