Southern Cebu: A Short Trip to Moalboal

Right after Kawasan Falls we immediately went to Moalboal, but rides back to the city proper are scarce, the Pambansang Kamao’s game was streaming the boob tube and everybody are glued and waiting for the results. Good thing a good lady allowed us to hop in her truck for a short ride to the nearest town to Moalboal.

After a quick lunch, and Manny’s not so impressive win over Marquez, the transportation in Southern Cebu resumes its usual traffic. We reached Moalboal beach a bit late to actually do one of its famous attraction…snorkeling, so instead, we just bum around, bought some booze, and waited for the sunset.

How to get to Moalboal from Cebu City Proper

Take a bus bound to Moalboal at the Southern Bus Terminal, from what I’ve heard ordinary bus costs 107 php. Bus leaves every hour, either Ceres or Librando.

The ride to Moalboal will take approximately 2.5-3 hours, so you may want to buy some snacks and drinks before boarding the bus.

Once you’re in Moalboal, hire a tricycle to bring you at Panagsama Beach. Tricycle fare is 25 php. In some occasions, the driver might not take you to a different resort or dive center you requested because he gets commission from other resort so be persistent.

What to do in Moalboal

Aside from beach volleyball and camping; one of the most popular activities most people do in Moalboal is free diving: Learn the art of diving with one breath of air. Dive deeper and longer than you would have thought you can without the use SCUBA equipment.

Visit Pescador Island and experience their underwater world. Friends told me that snorkeling in this part of Moalboal is one of Cebu’s best spot. Hire a boat that will bring you at the island for 1,500 php.

Beach Bumming, or can I just say the art of doing nothing along the shores of Panagsama beach. Lately I observed that I prefer laying around more often compared to my previous trips where I usually always on the go…signs of aging??? nyahahaha
