Southern Cebu: Of delayed flights, waiting game and a picturesque coastal road

Months ago, I scored a flight to Cebu for four days; my plans of exploring the southern part of the island will finally be a reality. Aside from the uber affordable ticket to the queen city of the south, I also booked a room (upper bunk – dorm type) at Sugbutel a month before my actual flight, the best part of booking a bunk a month earlier in this hostel is the fact that you can avail of their promo which cuts off the original price to 99 php a night. (Sweet right!?)

Of Delayed Flights
Then came the day of my flight, as always I’m an hour and a half early at the airport, I’ll be going solo (my 2nd solo trip) but will be meeting friends who are based in Cebu. I wasted the whole hour roaming at the airport vicinity, checking out the stores, people watching, eating, and trying the wifi connection at every corner of the airport but with no luck

Fifteen minutes before the flight, I heard the most annoying announcement a passenger would ever hear: Flight is delayed due to air traffic congestion; our flight is moved to a later schedule which means more time in the airport, less time exploring the night life in Cebu city...

So what do you do to kill time at the airport?
1. Look for a descent place in the airport so you can have a power nap.
2. Enjoy people watching
3. Since T3 already have National Bookstore, you can buy a magazine, a book or any reading materials that can help you kill time.
4. Pop in your earphones and listen to your favorite music
5. Or what I like doing the most, talking to strangers (I do this specially when I’m really, really bored of waiting)
By 8 PM all Cebu passengers were called to board the plane, sadly my conversation with Ate Linda and Kuya Rex was cut short. I hope to see them someday, somewhere in Cebu. By fifteen minutes pass 9 PM I was already in Cebu city, instead of using the public transport I opted to hire a taxi going to Sugbutel.

Waiting Game and A picturesque Coastal Road
The plan of meeting up with my Cebu based friends was moved the following day because one, my flight is delayed and two, they’re already somewhere in Southern Cebu. We agreed to meet up at Badian where Kawasan Falls is located.
I woke up early to catch the first bus going to Badian that costs me 130 php from the Southern Bust station. The ride from the city to Badian took 3 hours and instead of sleeping all 3 hours, my eyes were glued at the view outside instead.

Right after the bus turn left, this view greeted me. A low tide coast of Baliri Town. It was a cloudy morning but with a view this good, who cares?
Then, a few kilometers after, another view of the coast appeared. This time at the town of Dumanjug. I saw several fisher folks walking at shore, I guess they're looking for some crabs or shrimps.

Finally, at Badian. I saw this clouds mirrored at the pool in front of me and immediately click away.
Going down south means speeding at the coastal road of Cebu; the ride was more than what I’m expecting. A great view of a low tide morning greeted me when we reached the town of Barili. The view continued down until I reached the town of Badian. Apparently, I was early; I think two hours ahead of time. While waiting for Doi, Ed, Edwin and Dom I went out to explore the area.

Killing the waiting game:
1. Went out at the beach to take some more photos
2. Attended the mass even if they’re using their local dialect
3. Ate at the nearby “karendirya” for a quick brunch (thanks for giving the friend chicken for free).
4. Took a photo of myself using my fisheye (yes, I’m using film again!)
Finally, by 10 AM, the gang is complete. Rain caught up with them, reason why they’re an hour late (I think? Hahaha). We just walked our way to get to the Kawasan Falls entrance.

kapag delayed ang flight usually e dadaan ko nalang sa tulog while rolling my playlist.

Ito ba ang time na nag speech ka sa isang event sa outpost? sayang di ako naka punta nun.

i don't sleep din during long travels kc i dont want to missed the view outside. Im glad na you had fun visiting our place.
