Aside from the rice terraces and cloudy mountain tops, Sagada is also home to a number of enchanting waterfalls. On this trip, we had the opportunity to visit two of Sagada’s water-pride, Bomod-ok and Pongas, both majestic but each with their own unique character and charm. Visiting both waterfalls will surely test your strength and knee power but survivors will be rewarded with an awesome view.
The Mighty Big Falls of the North
Loud, Strong, Powerful… words that are synonymous to the Big Falls of Sagada, located at the northern side of the town, addressed by the locals as Bomod-ok Falls, considered as a visitor’s favorite amongst the attractions in this part of the country.

Be ready for a long trek down the amazing terraces of Banga-an, the little village that surrounds the whole path going to the Big Falls and the people who are responsible on maintaining the breath taking view of the rice terraces along the way.
Expect to walk on paved pathway, making the trek downward a breeze, but keep in mind that you will be climbing the same route once you get back from the falls, so be sure to bring with you some energy bars and bottled water to keep you hydrated. The trek to Bomod-ok Falls will take you about 1 ½ hours give and take.
Best Practice: Before you start the trek to Bomod-ok Falls, you may want to borrow a walking stick that will help you get your balance once you climb back from the waterfalls. Walking sticks are available at the Tourist information center at the village entrance.
When our group reached the waterfalls; we immediately looked for a perfect spot to leave our belongings, took off our shirts and jumped into the freezing waters of Bomod-ok. It was very refreshing after a long trek under the sun, it helps regain your energy and calm you soar feet. We stayed there for a couple of hours to appreciate the beauty of nature right in front of us.

I consider our group one lucky tourist, because of the perfect weather. The heavens granted us with clear blue skies and rich green mountains complimenting the strong white wash falling waters of Bomod-ok.
We call it a day before we could even reach the 100th time we said “ang lamig!” referring to the freezing clear blue-green waters of the river.
The new Information Center set up at the gates of Banga-an Village
Just Now:A newly set-up tourist information greeted us before the start of our trek to the Big Falls. They are locals from the village who insisted our group to take a guide from them (this is aside from the SAGAS guides from downtown). You are not allowed to visit the falls without the aid of the guides from their group, so we are forced to get one just for the sake not to spoil the moment.
Cash Flow: The tour to Bomod-ok Falls cost 600 php for 1-10 person, an additional 500 php because of the new rule of the locals in Banga-an village.
