Happy Beach: Calaguas Island

Many times this island was featured in every travel show, on blogs and magazine, but who wouldn't? It has the fine sand, clear blue waters and a location away from the noisy tourists.

I've been to Calaguas Island twice, I still remember I can't get my eyes off the fine sand under my feet when I got the chance to visit the place for the first time. It never occurred to me that something this good is hiding at Camarines Norte. After that first encounter I went back the following summer and again the beauty of Calaguas still mesmerize me.





We call the island "Happy Beach" because of the numerous happy memories that happened on the island. Birthdays, parties, "inumans" and so on. Besides, with a beautiful beach like this in front of you, good vibes will never leave you.



To get here, take a bus going to Daet, Camarines Norte, once your reach the town proper, pick up some supplies that would last for a number of days depending on how long your planning to stay on the island. There are no hotels in the island so better bring those tents, although there are locals living in the island that you could ask for water for bathing and washing. It will take 2 hour boat ride from the mainland to the island. So better check the sites where you can hire a boat and a guide.
